A paradise called Boracay Island ♥
Just came home from paradise! Locally, it is called the Boracay Island. I have recently been here, last February was my first time and I have just fallen in love with the place. It has been my dream ever since I was young to come here for a visit. Unfortunately, I was thrown out of the Philippines sooner than I expected and so the dream remained a dream for quite a long time until it became reality just a few months ago.
I have booked the Mayflower Hotel by mistake at first, but it turned out to be a great stay. The beachfront where everything happens is called the Balabag beach, I thought that it was the same location as the Mayflower but then lo and behold, this hotel was located in Bolabog beach instead. So yeah, the letters O and A got me right there!
No complaints though, we used the distance as an excuse to exercise. It wasn’t that far anyway. Just 8-10 minute walk in a safe neighborhood, we also got to experience the backdoor scene of the island. Found out that we can buy stuff cheaper on this side of town.
The hotel was gorgeous. It has been there for 4 years but the facilities are maintained very well. The rooms were beautiful. Very clean and spacious; the restroom, was very clean too. You have a balcony where you can smoke or simply just hang out. The pool was also stunning. Very blue, beautiful lighting at night and the sun shines just above it during daytime; which is perfect. Breakfast was also good, you may get tired of it though if you stay a bit longer than two days cos it’ll always be the same set every morning. You can choose from Filipino, American or Korean. Overall, the atmosphere was very serene and relaxing. It would have been great if it were only a bit closer to the White Beach area.
Our life here is just so peaceful. We wake up to have breakfast. Chill at the pool, go out to the beachfront to sun bathe and swim some more, then have lunch. Get a little something to munch on in the afternoon and then our favorite part will always be the sunset drinks at our favorite bars. We then go back to our room to shower and get changed for dinner. Have dinner then chill out until it’s time to hit the clubs again. Dance the night away and waste away to Lalala Land aka Dream/Zzz Land. This went on repeat for the rest of our stay here.
We were only booked at the Mayflower for two nights and so we went to look for a new place for our 3rd and 4th night. Big thanks to Agoda.com, we found a great deal at Hey Jude! in D’Mall. The hotel was cute and homey. The staffs were great too just like at the Mayflower. We were upgraded free of charge from Standard to Deluxe. If you wanna be near all the crowd and events, I can recommend this hotel if you are going on a budget. I mean, the only thing that they don’t have is a pool but their breakfast was great too and the facilities are a little bit above standard so yeah that’s not too bad for the price too, is it?

One afternoon, we had our hennas put by two funny and entertaining young men who made fun of me endlessly after I spent almost two hours looking for a design. They were joking that I was choosing a design as if I was going for a permanent tattoo. I didn’t find any in their look book so I ended up just looking at the beach as the sun makes it way to finally set. And voila, I thought of just writing “Que Sera Sera” which means “Whatever will be, will be” just below my nape area. It turned out pretty anyways. Lol. I chose this because I consider this to be one of my strongest beliefs in life. Things happen for a reason, so whatever will be, will be. You can choose to go against the flow, but if it’s not meant then it’ll just take you back to the start.
On our third day, we went island hopping. Raymond, a new found friend set us up to go to the Crocodile Island to go snorkeling and then to Puka Beach for some sunbathing/ swimming/ picture taking. As we were on our boat trip, we saw the long stretch of Boracay Island and almost all the resorts that there is. We even saw Manny Pacquiao’s. The rock/island formations were also very magnificent to look at. As we were snorkeling, men in boats were selling ice cream/ coconut juice to tourists on boats moored in the area. I was surprised to know that there are such things in the middle of the ocean. We bought ourselves some coconut juice, which tasted so fresh and was thirst quenching indeed. Puka Beach was my favorite destination because it was just so beautiful. White sand, clear blue waters, mountains at the backdrop, lesser people on the beachfront; this to me was haven.
My boyfriend and I took the liberty to just rest it up on our last night (we were feeling a bit sick too) while our friend Aiza went out to have drinks with her newfound friend. In the morning, sad as it is, we knew that our holiday was over and it’s now time to head back to Manila. But here’s us looking forward to the next time that we set foot in Boracay!
